About

Conflict is a normal part of the human experience - we are unique and we care about different things, and so it’s natural that we won't agree about everything. As children, many of us aren’t taught how to effectively navigate through those disagreements, which can lead to them weighing on us pretty heavily as adults. When it’s not addressed, conflict can erode our relationships, harm our workplaces, and take its toll on our health.

The purpose and passion behind Laurier Mediation is to help people create peace in their lives through gaining self-awareness and understanding of those they find themselves in conflict with.

We help by teaching new skills, coaching our clients, and facilitating dialogue to help them effectively navigate through their situation.

Our Values

Equity

Equity means being fair and impartial. Everyone is welcome at Laurier Mediation, and we create a space where each person can put their best foot forward and have a fair opportunity to participate. We are committed to supporting our clients in the ways that they need us to so that they are empowered while they’re working with us.

Honesty

You can count on us to be transparent with you about the services we offer and our role within them, as well as to maintain our commitment to confidentiality.

Respect

We demonstrate respect by connecting with our clients with authenticity and dignity. We welcome diversity and make room for cultural expression in our work.

Community

At our core is the desire to serve others. We care big time about our community which means that you will find us working with community members and special programs to use our skillset to help however we can. We are committed to volunteering when we are able and working with non-profits to help find an affordable way for everyone to have access to ADR.

Meet the Owner

hi, i'm jaemi

I am the owner of Laurier Mediation, and I help take the fear out of conflict by channelling its energy into understanding and growth. I support you as you work through the tough-stuff, and give you skills so that you can navigate through future conflicts with confidence.

Get to know me:

  • I go by she/her

  • I love being in the kitchen - cooking and baking are my jam

  • My parents are entrepreneurs, so I have a lifetime of business experience and knowledge of industries like transportation, health care and construction.

  • I have either played or coached volleyball for most of my life, and enjoy watching almost all sports

I grew up believing I wanted to be a lawyer, but changed my mind when I heard about mediation because I connected with the idea of helping people collaborate to resolve their own challenges rather than working against each other. I pursued my mediation training when I graduated from the University of Alberta and obtained my professional designation as a Chartered Mediator through the ADR Institute of Canada.
